Khalsa
College of Education, Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar successfully organised a two-day
ICSSR-sponsored National Seminar on the theme “Sustainability for a Better
Bharat: Pathways to an Inclusive and Resilient Future by 2047” on March 20–21, 2026.
The
seminar was graced by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Tajinder Chhina, Director, Little
Flower Senior Secondary School, Harse Chhina, who delivered the inaugural
address and highlighted the importance of sustainable practices in education and
society. The Guest of Honour, Prof.Deepa Sikand Kauts, Head and Dean, Faculty of
Education, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, delivered the keynote address,
emphasizing the need for inclusive and resilient developmental pathways and
underlining the role of educational institutions as catalysts of change.
The
plenary session was chaired by Prof. Amit Kauts, Department of Education, Guru
Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. The session witnessed insightful deliberations
by eminent panellists. Prof. J. N. Baliya from the School of Education, Central
University of Jammu, spoke on the role of indigenous and traditional knowledge
systems in achieving sustainability for a better Bharat. Prof. Surender Kumar
Sharma from the Department of Education, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla,
deliberated on issues of social inclusion and equity in the context of sustainable development.
The seminar witnessed
enthusiastic participation from academicians, researchers, and scholars across
the country, with a total of 209 registrations. Research papers were presented in both offline and online modes across nine technical sessions. These
sessions focused on diverse dimensions of sustainability, including digital
inclusion, sustainable livelihoods, social inclusion, education for sustainable
development, sustainable agriculture, climate change, green economy,
traditional knowledge, and sustainable resource management. The technical
sessions reflected a rich exchange of ideas among a distinguished and diverse group of scholars and researchers.
The
valedictory session was graced by principals of various educational
institutions, who appreciated the efforts of the college in successfully
organising such a significant academic gathering and providing a platform for
meaningful academic discourse
